Personal Statement
Dr. Huda Y. Zoghbi is the Ralph D. Feigin Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics, Molecular and Human Genetics, Neurology, and Neuroscience, Baylor College of Medicine, and an Investigator for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Additionally, Dr. Zoghbi is the director of the Jan and Dan Duncan Neurological Research Institute (NRI) at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine (BCM), and was awarded the 2011 Neuroscience Prize of The Peter and Patricia Gruber Foundation for her pioneering work in unlocking the genetic and molecular mysteries behind a number of devastating neurological disorders, including Rett syndrome, spinocerebellar ataxia type 1, and brain tumors called medulloblastomas. Currently Dr. Zoghbi has four major research projects underway in the Zoghbi. For more information on those projects and the Zoghbi lab, go to the NRI website.
