Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center Announces New Medical Director

HOUSTON (December 13, 2023) – Texas Children’s Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Raj Nagarajan, esteemed pediatric hematologist-oncologist, has been named Medical Director of Texas Children's Cancer and Hematology Center and Professor of Hematology-Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine.

Before joining Texas Children’s, Dr. Nagarajan was a professor at the University of Cincinnati Department of Pediatrics. While in Cincinnati, Nagarajan had numerous leadership roles at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, including the role of medical director of oncology for more than a decade.

“It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Dr. Nagarajan as our new Medical Director,” said Dr. Susan Blaney, Director of Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center and Division Chief of Pediatric Hematology-Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. “Dr. Nagarajan has a long and distinguished track record of outstanding clinical care. He will work closely with our associate directors for outpatient and inpatient oncology across all Texas Children’s campuses, as well as our nursing leadership, TCH administrative leadership and leadership of the other services with whom we work closely. Dr. Nagarajan will help us to remain on the forefront of ensuring the delivery of personalized, high-quality, family-centered care to children, adolescents and young adults with cancer and blood disorders.”

Dr. Nagarajan brings with him over 20 years of experience as a pediatric hematologist-oncologist and over 10 years of service as a medical director. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania and completed his Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota, where he also completed a Master of Science in Clinical Research. His clinical interests are in the areas of sarcomas and cancer survivorship. Dr. Nagarajan has also served as Co-Clinical Director of the Cancer Survivorship Center at Cincinnati Children’s Medical Center and as Grant Chair for the University of Cincinnati Cancer Survivorship Grant.
